Sara L. Mattson, AuD, CCC-A
Doctor of AudiologyDr. Sara L. Mattson is a highly devoted healthcare professional dedicated to a patient-centered approach that is meant to produce the greatest outcomes for those dealing with the frustrating effects of hearing loss. She has over fifteen years of experience treating patients with all levels of hearing loss and an expertise in the most advanced technological solutions available, which not only include hearing amplification devices, but cochlear implants, and bone-anchored hearing devices as well.
Sara has earned a Master’s Degree in Audiology in addition to her Bachelor’s degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders, both from San Diego State University, before going on to earn a Doctor of Audiology degree from the University of Florida. Prior to graduation, she completed her externship at Shohet Ear Associates in Newport Beach, CA, where she put her education to work in a busy otology clinic renowned for evaluating hearing and balance disorders, and providing rehabilitative services such as hearing aid dispensing, cochlear implant services and aural rehabilitation. Post-graduation, she furthered her education by becoming the resident tinnitus expert under Dr. Jastreboff, a world-renowned authority on tinnitus and tinnitus retraining therapy.
Dr. Mattson is fully licensed by the state of California and certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association to provide comprehensive audiological services. She is a member of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA), American Speech-Hearing-Language Association (ASHA), California Academy of Audiology (CAA), and American Tinnitus Association (ATA).
Dr. Mattson was most recently and proudly awarded a certificate of excellence in clinical education for providing outstanding education to student clinicians. Her passionate demonstration of clinical teaching techniques attracts top audiology graduate students to her clinic, and helps to produce some of the profession’s most promising and talented future healthcare providers.
Sara is a native Californian, raised in a small Northern California community where she learned the value of hard work and the fair treatment of others. When she’s not busy helping her patients realize the benefits of better hearing, she looks forward to going camping, hiking, mountain biking, and exploring the outdoors with her multi-talented and bright husband, Darrel and her adorably spontaneous son, Marcus.
David K. Woodruff, AuD, CCC-A
Board Certified Doctor of AudiologyAn audiologist since 1986, Dr. David K. Woodruff holds a Doctorate in Audiology from A. T. Still University (ATSU) – Arizona School of Health Sciences and a graduate degree in Communicative Disorders from San Diego State University. Subsequently he taught as an adjunct professor at San Diego State University training and lecturing nurses, hospital staff, and the public. In addition, he served as Audiology Consultant for the Poway School District in San Diego County. Dr. Woodruff has also served on the Board for the California Academy of Audiology and is currently a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Specializing in clinical audiology, hearing aid dispensing, sound and noise control, sound level and environment studies for corporations, industries and municipalities nationwide, Dr. Woodruff also serves as an expert witness for legal cases involving hearing or noise trauma that cause hearing loss, vertigo and tinnitus.
Dr. Woodruff began private practice in San Diego in 1990, when he founded and managed the Hearing and Balance Center (across from Sharp Hospital) in Kearny Mesa, North County Audiology in Carmel Mountain and Rancho Santa Fe Audiology in Rancho Santa Fe.
Today, Dr. Woodruff continues his passion working and caring for patients at Rancho Santa Fe Audiology. He has also expanded his efforts to help those with hearing loss by volunteering and working as a board member with the charity organization Americans Helping Asian Children www.ahac.org whose annual mission takes volunteers to Southeast Asia to assist disadvantaged and hearing impaired children.
Trinity Azevedo Blitt, Au.D.
Doctor of AudiologyDr. Azevedo Blitt received her B.A. in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences from San Diego State University, and her Doctorate of Audiology from Arizona State University. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.
While specializing in clinical audiology and hearing aid dispensing, Dr. Azevedo Blitt has experience in many areas of Audiology, including pediatrics, industrial audiological monitoring, vestibular testing, tinnitus and cochlear implants. She has been published for her research regarding the significance of noise-induced hearing loss as a result of personal music device use. She also has volunteered as part of a medical team assisting hearing impaired adults and children in Guaymas, Mexico.
Dr. Azevedo Blitt is a native Californian from Hilmar, a small farming town in Merced County. In her free time, Dr. Azevedo Blitt enjoys spending time with her husband and son.

Office Manager | Patient Care CoordinatorMatthew, or Matt as he is affectionately known to our patients, is often the first face you’ll see at Rancho Santa Fe Audiology. Matt completed his undergraduate degree in Linguistics at UC Santa Cruz in 2010 and came to our practice in 2013. In his almost 6 years here, he has become somewhat of an expert in the field and everyone’s favorite hearing aid specialist. In his free time, Matt enjoys golf and classic rock music. Matt is always here to assist our patients with a smile on his face!
Marketing Manager | Patient Care CoordinatorMadelyn, or Maddy, forms the second half of the Matt & Maddy duo. After getting her undergraduate degree in Psychology from UC San Diego in 2015, she began working as an assistant at Rancho Santa Fe Audiology. She can be found behind the scenes, helping to manage the inner workings of the practice. When she’s not in the office, Maddy enjoys exploring the San Diego food scene and listening to her favorite podcasts.
