Trinity P. Azevedo, Au.D., FAAA
Doctor of Audiology
Clinical & Dispensing Audiologist

Dr. Azevedo joined our clinic after completing her doctoral residency at Nevada ENT / Silver State Hearing and Balance in Reno, Nevada. Prior to this, she received her B.A. in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences from San Diego State University, and her Doctorate of Audiology from Arizona State University. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.

While specializing in clinical audiology and hearing aid dispensing, Dr. Azevedo has experience in many areas of Audiology, including pediatrics, industrial audiological monitoring, vestibular testing, tinnitus and cochlear implants. She has been published for her research regarding the significance of noise-induced hearing loss as a result of personal music device use. She also has volunteered as part of a medical team assisting hearing impaired adults and children in Guaymas, Mexico.

Dr. Azevedo is a native Californian from Hilmar, a small farming town in Merced County and has ties to family farming in Hawai’i.

Dr. Azevedo is also fluent in Portuguese.

David K. Woodruff, Au.D., CCC-A, FAAA
Board Certified Doctor of Audiology

An audiologist since 1986, Dr. David K. Woodruff holds a Doctorate in Audiology from A. T. Still University (ATSU) – Arizona School of Health Sciences and a graduate degree in Communicative Disorders from San Diego State University. Subsequently he taught as an adjunct professor at San Diego State University training and lecturing nurses, hospital staff, and the public. In addition, he served as Audiology Consultant for the Poway School District in San Diego County. Dr. Woodruff has also served on the Board for the California Academy of Audiology and is currently a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Specializing in clinical audiology, hearing aid dispensing, sound and noise control, sound level and environment studies for corporations, industries and municipalities nationwide, Dr. Woodruff also serves as an expert witness for legal cases involving hearing or noise trauma that cause hearing loss, vertigo and tinnitus.

Dr. Woodruff began private practice in San Diego in 1990, when he founded and managed the Hearing and Balance Center (across from Sharp Hospital) in Kearny Mesa, North County Audiology in Carmel Mountain and Rancho Santa Fe Audiology in Rancho Santa Fe.

Today, Dr. Woodruff continues his passion working and caring for patients at Rancho Santa Fe Audiology. He has also expanded his efforts to help those with hearing loss by volunteering and working as a board member with the charity organization Americans Helping Asian Children www.ahac.org whose annual mission takes volunteers to Southeast Asia to assist disadvantaged and hearing impaired children.

Geoffrey A. Smith, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Ear Nose & Throat Medical Consultant

Another valued member of the Rancho Santa Fe Audiology team is Dr. Geoffrey A. Smith, a board certified otolaryngologist trained at UCLA, UC Davis and Harvard Medical School.

Over the years Dr. Smith has worked as an associate professor at UC San Diego and as a visiting professor at UCLA School of Medicine and National Facility for the American Association of Otolaryngologists. As a guest of honor and visiting lecturer, he has taught around the world and published over 50 scientific articles. His research includes infectious diseases, facial trauma and the pathology of inner ear diseases. Dr. Smith is also a Qualified Medical Examiner for the State of California.

As well as acting as consultant to Rancho Santa Fe Audiology, giving medical clearances for extended wear hearing aids, Dr. Smith and Dr. Woodruff volunteer with the charity organization Americans Helping Asian Children, which helps children with hearing disabilities throughout Vietnam, Cambodia, Burma and Laos.
